The final YoungTales Summer Show will be Monday July 17 at 10 a.m, at the Rome Floyd County Library. Performers will include Griffin Girard, Courtney Hutcherson, and other outstanding young tellers. Other children who would like to tell a story are invited to prepare a five minute tale, put their names in a basket, and as time permits, may get a chance to present a story at the show. Stories may be personal stories from real life, tall tales, versions of traditional folk tales, or any other genre suitable for children. YoungTales Storytelling Clubs have been organized at ten elementary schools including Anna K. Davie, Armuchee, Berry, Johnson, Main, Model, Montessori, Naomi, West Central, and West End. Each school chose contestants to compete at the annual YoungTales Storytelling event at the Big Fibbers Storytelling Festival last March. YoungTales Storytelling Clubs, are sponsored by the Ridge & Valley Storytelling Guild and supported for 2016-17 by the Chiaha Guild, Coosa Valley Credit Union, Sara Hightower Regional Library System, 100 Black Men of Northwest Georgia, and ten local elementary schools. Civic or educational groups that would like to help sponsor this program for 2017-2018 should contact Terrell Shaw.
